Jonathan Hickman will be be returning to the world of creator-owned comics, where he previously gave us The Nightly News, Pax Romana, Transhuman, and Red Mass from Mars. July 6th will mark the first issue of "The Red Wing", a new series written by Hickman with art by Nick Pitarra. But wait! That's not all! After the four issues of that mini-series are done he will be putting out a mini written and drawn by himself, and THEN will be doing another mini with Pitarra. I am of the opinion that comics will always be better off with more of those big Hickman ideas out there blowing minds apart. Anyways, here is the first cover and a description of the first series, The Red Wing (from iFanboy).
The story takes place in a future where the best fighter pilots in the world not only have to master their craft and perfect their skills but also have to learn how to navigate through time. "[It's] the greatest battle in the history of the history of three worlds," Hickman explains. "We're all pretty excited for this one. We believe we not only have a solid concept for an engaging new series, but even at this early stage, The Red Wing has that lightning in a bottle feel to it. I think people are really going to like it."
