I'll be honest...this is a book that I missed the first go around. I saw the book on the pull list section on iFanboy, but forgot about it completely when I went into the store. Then I heard some reviews of it and everybody was excited about it...so I figured I should go back and get it. I know that this is a reboot of an old series, but I had no problem following it at all.
Story:
John Rozum crafts a deranged, off-the-wall, and funny introduction to the book here which serves new readers very well. He introduces us to the characters and then throws us into the thick of things, letting us learn the world on the fly. Some of the ideas we get introduced to are so interesting and imaginative. I really like the fact that this book is set in the DC universe proper (rather than Vertigo), as this seems to point to some involvement of some regular DC characters in future issues.

Art:
Frazer Irving is a very good artist, and his art is really great in this book. While much of it is done in his signature style, a few of the pages are cleaner and simpler (kind of Luna brothers-ish), which offers a nice change in tone. And the last page is haunting and amazing...some of the best Frazer Irving art I've seen in a long time.
8/10
Overall:
Well, I'm glad I listened to everyone that was singing the praises of this book as I enjoyed it very much. I will definitely be looking to pick up the next one and am hoping that we will see some crossover into the regular DC universe sometime soon (Zatanna anyone?).
