So I previously posted that I was going to try and take a dip into the world of Manga. I mean, if it's good for millions of Japanese, it must be at least OK. Honestly, I just pick up books at random from wherever I can get a hold of them. Here's what I've read so far and a few thoughts on them...
Pluto (Vol. 1) - I loved this. The story was compelling and the art was fantastic. It pulled me right in (so much so that I did a bigger review of it a little while ago).
Vagabond (Vol. 1-6) - I'll be honest, the first volume didn't do a whole lot for me. But, I stuck with it and it gets better volume after volume. The action is fantastic, I mean who doesn't like limbs being lopped off all willy-nilly, and actually the art in general is just stellar. The story continues to unfold and is steadily becoming deeper. Definitely a good pickup.
Biomega - I am only a few chapters in so far but I am loving the shit out of this. From what I can tell, the story is centered around one guy with sweet weapons and a motorcycle fighting of hordes of rapidly evolving space zombies...and there's a talking bear with a gun...and that's only in the first few pages. The dark, visceral art is spectacular as well.
Deadman Wonderland - Again, I am only a few pages in but I am really enjoying this series. The story is completely unlike anything else (seriously just check it out for yourself) and the art is really strong.
Pokemon Adventures - Cuz I don't always like my manga violent...I decided to check out some Pokemon. It's not too bad...easy to read and it takes your mind off things. Nothing too special...I just liked the Pokemon when I was a kid, so sue me.
There are a couple more that I've been looking at starting (Bakuman, etc.) but haven't had time to get into fully as of yet. That's it for now...I will update in a while on my process.
